Yes, record company people do love music too … Bonita Sutherland is National Account Manager at Universal Music Australia and here’s her music life:
My record collection is pretty eclectic these days. From Nina Simone to Bad Brains to King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, if there is a record I really enjoy – it’s even better on wax.
The first album I bought was No Doubt – Tragic Kingdom on CD at age 8 and I remember flipping through the booklet obsessively as well as listening to it on my little boom box nonstop.
I still have the CD and now I have it on orange wax also! Whether it’s digging the second hand vinyl crates and discovering rare gems or finding an obscure album/or deluxe reissue of a great album, expanding my vinyl collection continues to be a very enjoyable hobby of mine.
I visit a lot of indie record stores and love seeing what they are doing and picking up a gem or two, but as a Sydneysider my ‘go to’ store is Redeye Records. I’ve been buying music and band t-shirts there for over ten years now.
