Celebrating their 7th Birthday on Sunday 19 March as an independent music store, which sells preowned and new vinyl, plus rare collectibles along with HI-FI audio equipment, we caught up with owner Jayden Faass from #Beatniks Records in Broadbeach QLD, to chat all things about their store, it’s history and lots of things in 7 words….
Heya #beatniks, we are super excited about your upcoming 7 year anniversary?
When we decided to take the plunge in 2015 and open our own store, my wife was about 7 months pregnant with our first daughter. Fast forward through the planning and getting the shop ready, we opened 2 weeks before ‘Layla’ was born (named for obvious reasons). So the first few months were busy juggling our two new babies!
I spent a lot of years in, around and managing record stores and wanted to be closer to home on the Gold Coast and saw an opening in the market. Since then we have accumulated a great customer database and met some amazing people! Many customers have turned into great friends which we love…makes it feel less like work.
Do you have anything planned for the big day?
Lots of bargains for our customers – Huge discounts of new vinyl, preowned vinyl, CDs and DVDs & an instore performance. Probably some sneaky celebratory beers too!
