Celebrate Australia’s
independent record stores
Saturday 12 April 2025

Record Store Day (RSD) is a global event held on the third Saturday of April annually, across the globe including the United Kingdom, United States, Mexico, Japan and across Europe.

What is Record Store Day?

A day for the people who make up the world of the independent record stores whereby customers and artists come together to celebrate the unique culture of a record store and the special role these independently owned stores play in their communities.

Record Store Day Australia’s goal is to elevate and promote the contemporary music community and support Australian independent record stores, labels, artists with a hope to reach a broader audience and grow the event each year.

It’s Record Store Day everyday!
Australia has over 200 independent record shops all across the country from Darwin to Hobart and everywhere in between. Each store cultivates its own unique culture and communities, worth celebrating all year round.

Instores

Alongside a day of digging for rare finds, stores host live music performances, artist signings, DJs spinning, sales, talks and music related exhibitions.

Best thing about working at a record store? "People, music and energy. The ability to be able to help people through connecting them to wonderful music or even other people is a great opportunity. Oh, and the funk."
