THE GREAT INTELLIGENCE:
With a sound informed by a love of artists such as The B-52s, Ausmuteants, Kraftwerk, Stereolab, CAN, and of course DEVO, The Great Intelligence is the brain child of Joe Carrucan. Starting the project soon after moving to Naarm/Melbourne from Eora/Sydney, he spent the next few years writing, recording and overcoming a bad case of demo-itis to craft the debut, ‘THE GRID’, enlisting a handful of local collaborators to see it through to the end.
Featuring 10 synthesiser-drenched tracks, the record rarely slows down as it warps between a flurry of sub-genres. From the pumping synth-punk of ‘Lab Rat’ to the new wave grooves of ‘She’s An Alien’, or the Chugging Space-Rock of ‘Space-Man’ to the haunting warbles of the title track, there’s something for everyone with an enthusiasm for electronics, rock music, and science fiction.
This album was written and recorded on the stolen land of the Wurundjeri people.
